Bottle Bracelets

At a consignment shop I go to, this presh-ious lady sells some magnificent bracelets. I did my own 3 minute version. I would love to go all out and make much much much more elaborate ones someday... You know... when I have time.

I started with an old uuugly bow tie that was being thrown away from a house fire customer. (You get those all the time, dont you?) She had made them from ribbon and old shirts and anything she could get her hands on. My new old bow tie was perfect because the thickness was perfect and the edges were already finished for me. Hence the 3 minute craftiness.

Next you drink a bottle of water, coke, or my personal favorite, Dr. Pepper. Rinse out the bottle well. I didn't take a picture of this because the only way the clearness of the bottle would show up was on a dark surface and to be quite honest, any dark surfaces in my house are covered with dog and cat hair. I didn't want to be judged. Cut the bottle in the middle horizontally so now you have the a top and bottom to the bottle. Measure the width of your ribbon, repurposed bow tie, or scrap of fabric you have laying around. Then cut the bottle a tad bit skinnier than the width of your fabric. So now you should have a plastic "ring". Now cut the "ring" vertically so you can get it over your wrist.

Using hot glue or E200 (pretty much a lifesaver in my book) glue the fabric onto the plastic ring and be sure and wrap it and glue it around the edge where you cut it vertically otherwise it will dig into your wrist, therefore making this whole project a "pain in the wrist". Hehehe!

See, cuteness, isn't it?

This lady had glued old buttons, beads, and anything she could find on the bracelets, which made them that much more fab.

But, I didn't have time. And I never wear blue. Oh well. Its the craft that counts :)

Dramatic 2 Weeks!

My poor presh-ous angel got her nail half-way yanked off because her nails were too long. It was awful! So, she spent the day at the vet to get it fully removed. And with my finger still wrapped up in a paper towel from the hair thinning incident, I felt her pain. We had a pity party together. Adorable, eh?

This past Wednesday, the final Penske at Mom and Dad's got unloaded. It was a record high of 94 degrees! Yikes! This is Polo. He is one of my favorite people in the whole world. Literally. Never does he complain, and he laughs at everything. He used this rope plenty a' times throughout the day to carry things. He ties it around his neck and then lifts a piece of furniture. This is a solid oak nightstand. I was just praying he never tripped. Polo said his goal is to be able to carry a double door fridge with just a rope. He's amazing, but I have my doubts. :)

The kiddos spent Friday night with me. I hardly have time to be with them so I really enjoyed it. J was eating popcorn during our movie and Sadie was patiently waiting for any crumbs. Apparently she wasn't feeling good after eating a few pieces because in the middle of the night she got a little cranky. Turns out that I was the floor for a massive dog fight on my bed. My forehead didn't survive. I currently have a long, claw-mark scab that no amount of bang can cover. So embarrassing.

Here lies an exciting Sunday for Dad and John! They are practicing for the "Dragon Boat Races" this upcoming Saturday! They are such dare devils. They have a team of 20 and did a great job for a lot of first timers!

I just think this picture is adorable of Ryder! He is sporting his new Thomas the Train hat. That smile is priceless.

A Glimpse Into Hair School

My first day- jumped right into a doing a perm!

My friend Mallori did my hair, it was the first time I'd ever had anything done to the "style" and I loved it! Now I'm hooked and do it all the time!

I was shakin in my boots, but some random brave soul let me do highlights and lowlights. And, she still loves me.

I wanted a "spiral" perm. And that's my friend Kristi in the background. Don't ask how the perm turned out. I'd rather not talk about it.

All bad things come to those who don't know what they are doing. And to daughters who's moms want their hair thinned.

I'm not talking about this one either. All I'm going to say is that it was the wax's fault. I still have a friend though. And for that, I will count my blessings. :)

Its Only the Beginning Folks!

I'm baaaack! As much as I enjoy looking at everyone else's blogs, I decided maybe someone out there somewhere would want to share in parts of my life and passions! I had started blogging in college and have drawn a blank to the email and website I used previously, so I have to start all over!

At this point in my life, everything is a collaboration of God, dreams, needs, tears, love, happiness, disasters, dogs and cats, cosmetology school, my mom and dad, and friends. You can already taste the drama, riiiight? I wouldn't be a girly girl without it! :)

Something hit me about 8 months ago. What was I doing with my life and where did I want it to be in 5 years? I always saw myself working in a salon, laughing with girlfriends, being married and having 5 kids, and dressing in cute high-heels. I've quickly outgrown the vision of wearing heels. Wide feet and cankles just don't mix with 1/2 inch of surface area! But the vision for my life was being hindered by lack of motivation, money and other priorities. Nonetheless, I decided I needed to be proactive and use the passions that God gave me and shoot for the stars. So, in November I enrolled in cosmetology school. I know, CRAZY right?! Maybe that's why God allowed me to be single, no 5 kids, a passion towards a goal, and supportive fur-babies at home with enormously large bladders to be able to put up with my long days ;) I knew what I would be getting into with a full-time job and night classes Mon-Thursday, but man oh man, I thought I could handle it. Let me be the first to say, I'm exhausted. Migraines, stress, emotions, dark eyes and grumbling have become part of my daily routine. Its only a year and a half more. I must press on towards the goal!

In the meantime, I constantly stalk home decor blogs, gardening blogs, craft blogs, food blogs, thrifty blogs, facebook and just itch with anticipation for the day when I will have time to be like every other woman out there! Except, I want to do it ALL! I just keep telling myself, someday Bren, someday!

With my life and passions being such a random mixture of things, this is intended to be an outlet of excitement and stress (so I can spare my mother a phone call or 20). I'm excited to share with everyone the parts of my life that are interesting, or not so much, and everything in between!
